Are mens and women's shoe sizes the same?

I need to get a pair of Mary Jane shoes for my playing the part of Hermione in a school play. My mom said we need to go to the store sometime and get my feet measured for girls shoes. Aren%26#039;t they the same as my regular guy shoes (see my other questions about a guy playing Hermione LOL)? I don%26#039;t see why we can%26#039;t order them on-line rather than have to go to a store.

Reply:No. I belive they are different by about a size or size and a half. Mens are bigger. A womans 9 is like a mens 7and 1/2 or 8
