Can a match burn a shoe string without setting the whole thing on fire?

I%26#039;m doing a project and need to know if a Strike-anywhere match can burn a hole through a normal shoe string without setting the entire thing on fire. The shoestring will be tied horizantally between two posts with a lit match under it. I need the match the burn a hole so that the string seperates into two parts.
