What could this foot pain be and how do I relieve it?

Went out on Monday wearing a pair of shoes which I've worn plenty. They're worn in but definitly not out. Heel is reasonably high at 10cm but it's a half-block, more support than stilletto.

I work in fashion and this was a buying appointment with no real footwear choice.

I only walked around in them on shopping streets for two hours, not even close to how long I wore them over summer. But since two days the ball of my right foot is killing me. The pain shoots through my toes and through my leg up to my hip. It's so painful I take ages to hoble to work on foot and during work even when sitting still it is so painful.

At work I have ballet pumps as shoes (part of this season's uniform) but it just remains painful, even with the weight off. My whole leg is so sore I feel a bit sick. In the morning my foot just feels stiff and the first step is close to agony.

I still have four working days ahead of me, foothsoak doesn't help, can I take painkillers for this?

What could this foot pain be and how do I relieve it?
Take some advil. You might want to go to a Podiatrist.

I wear high heals a lot also. I rarely get pain. If I did it would be very unusual and I would go to the doctor.

Hope you feel better!
Reply:Well, you've got a couple of good answers there; you could have a fracture, you might be developing arthritis, it might be that you have a verrucca, Gout also springs to mind as a very painful condition. You don't say if there is visible inflammation.

The best place for a definitive answer is the doctor's surgery.

Painkiller would be good till you get to see the doc; depending on your tolerance of painkillers, paracetamol or brufen. (I can't cope with brufen, it gives me terrible indigestion which means it's probably bad for my stomach; it's an aspirin-related medication.)

Reply:I suffer something similar ! it could be gout, which is an inflamation of the smaller joint is your foot. ( and is bloody painful) there are medical terms which cause this, but dont have time to excplain now, excess tea/coffee/wine can be the cause, so if you like the odd glass of vino or drink too much tea/coffe etc, Anyway is easy to cure, go docs. who will prescribe medication which is a preventative, which does help, if it is this, just take it easy on caffine/alcohol etc.

hope this helps

Reply:From the way you are describing the pain and feeling slightly sick I wonder if you may have a stress fracture in the bone under your foot.

You walked for 2 hours - certainly a runner in running shoes can develop a stress fracture in that time so it's not that unusual.

I hobbled on what I thought was shin splints for 2 weeks and my tibia was fractured.

Most other things are going to get better with rest and antiinflammatories but not a fracture.

See a doctor.
Reply:you need to get it checked out with your doctor.painkillers will help or Ibuprofen gel to rub in where it hurts
Reply:hi. you can definitely take pain killers. you need to see a doctor. This needs to be looked at quickly.
