when i wear shoes, the heel part cuts my heals up. it doesn't matter the shoe or brand. For some reason my heals are real sensitive. Any ideas? Otherwise I can't wear many shoes.

How can I improve my cars emissions rating ? ( '93 Civic ) Can I use any parts from a newer Civic ?
I know I can drive less, ride the bus etc., but for those times that I have to drive, I'd like to have a cleaner car. From what I understand, a newer Civic engine is totally different ( even a '97 or so versus my '93 ) and I would have to change out all the wiring.
So .... have the engines really changed all THAT much ?
The people that I spoke with made it sound as if I were trying to shoe-horn a big block Chevy or a Hybrid powertrain into the car ( in terms of complexity )
In short, what all has changed to newer motors that have given them a cleaner rating ?

No, you cannot use other parts, use only what your car had from the factory...
You could add some slight performance parts like cold air intake and free flowing exhaust system to help with better gas mileage and yeah a lil power...
As the Civic models changed and were updated, so were their engines and exhaust systems,- so many of them are not interchangable from one model year to another...
If anything,- try looking into gas saving/performance parts for your Civic, these will help with useing less and getting more.

The only thing I would suggest is to change the OEM type paper air filter to a permanent type like a K%26amp;N filter. It may give you a few more miles per gallon, and reduce your "carbon footprint" by a small amount

I live on Long Island, NY. The illegal immigrants run rampant here. I go to 711 to get my morning cup of coffee, and their are Literally 30-40 mexicans standing on the corner, waiting for someone to come pick them up for work. Their is usually a cop sitting there for whatever reason. I see them riding their bikes 2 and 3 at a time with a case of budweiser, back to the house they share with 15 others.
I live in a nice area, am young and work hard and pay taxes (rediculous taxes) to live where I live. I see them driving around and all their cars have North Carolina plates (WTF is that)
I recently was laid off for a short period of time, as I worked hard to find another job fast in order to support my shoe fetish. While laid off, I went to the clinic for female purposes. The clinic was lined with illegals. Upon sitting and talking to one girl, she told me that she gets free healthcare from planned parenthood because she doesnt have a job. I had to pay....WTF?

If all of these fail to whiten the bottom part of your shoe. Go to an Office Depot Store near you and purchase the "Method" All purpose cleanser. This is the safest and biodegradable cleanser in the whole planet. You can use it on everything, even on yourself without using a rubber glove!

Bearings - Bones Reds, $15. Very good bearings, easy to maintain.
Griptape - Any would do, Jessup, Black Magic and MOB are great.
About $4 - $7.
Wheels - Wheels don't make much difference, so blank shop wheels are good, they are around $15. For branded ones, which cost twice as much,
I suggest Spitfire, Ricta and Bones. But seriously don't go too expensive on wheels.

Yeah, you're probably going to have to use the white polish with the sponge tip applicator. Make sure you let them dry thoroughly. I used to use this all the time to help keep my white tennis shoes looking new.

i have a omega quest 24wheel size mountain bike i my chain protecter the plastic thing by the petals to protect the rider from getting cut wwll my shoe lace gets caught in the chain so can i get a new one since my old one broke off or can u not buy one?

I had the same thing happen to one of my bikes. No, I could not find a match. Most "chainrings" as they are called, come without the chainguard ring. Only the low priced bikes have those plastic rings. 30 years ago, they were made of chromed steel, but now they are all plastic.
The high quality racing bikes don't have chainguard rings (they never did) , they expect you to be wearing shorts. The guard is to keep your pants leg from getting caught, not your shoelaces. Keep your shoelaces tied tight, because they could get wrapped around the pedal spindle, just as easily.
You can do one of three things to keep your pants from catching the teeth of the chainring:

I had the same thing happen to one of my bikes. No, I could not find a match. Most "chainrings" as they are called, come without the chainguard ring. Only the low priced bikes have those plastic rings. 30 years ago, they were made of chromed steel, but now they are all plastic.
The high quality racing bikes don't have chainguard rings (they never did) , they expect you to be wearing shorts. The guard is to keep your pants leg from getting caught, not your shoelaces. Keep your shoelaces tied tight, because they could get wrapped around the pedal spindle, just as easily.
You can do one of three things to keep your pants from catching the teeth of the chainring:

White shoes and Labor Day?
I know you CAN'T wear white shoes after Labory Day (well you can, but soceity says you can't). Anyway, my question is, why? Labor Day is not to honor the dead, that's Memorial Day. So what's with the nix on white shoes part after Labor Day?

Can't decide on Merrell Cruise Control & Overdrive, as well as Vasque Blur and Mercury?
I've been wearing a couple of pairs of Asics trail shoes and a very old Skechers trail shoe for everyday use and for light trail running. I can't find the same models anymore and don't care for the styling of some of the newer ones. So, I've started trying out shoes from both Merrell and Vasque. I only wore the Merrell Cruise Control shoes out a couple of times (not running) and found the footbed to be a bit hard-not painful per se but not an Asics either. I've read reviews from others and haven't heard many complaints. Maybe I'm just too used to Asics? Anyway, I would love to get some input from others who have worn Merrell Cruise Control, Merrell Overdrive, Vasque Velocity, Vasque Blur and Vasque Mercury and could give me their input on some of the pros/cons of each shoe. Part of my problem is that a shoe will feel great on a store's carpet or wood floor, but feel quite differently when worn for an extened period of time.

Places like REI typically have little ramps and things to get a better feel. If the sales people get pushy, tell them to get lost or you'll take your business else where.
The Merrell Cruise Control and Vasque Velocity are both motion control shoes, if you have good foot mechanics, don't buy either of these. If you need the motion control, only look at them.
Merrell Overdrive is a great all round shoe, but not if you have flat feet.
The Vasque Blur has received very positive reviews, but if it doesn't feel good on you, it's of no use.
The Vasque Mercury is a lighter weight, softer shoe. Depending on the trails you run in and how far you run, this may or may not be good.

What is the best way to clean the bottom white rubber parts of the sneaker?

Can anyone tell me the name of this Steve Madden shoe?
It is a black slingback sandal very similar to the current Steve Madden model "Pillar" only with more of a keyhole on top and the straps come from the center of main part of the vamp, rather than crossing higher as they do on "Pillar." I found these shoes new and never worn at a Goodwill store today for $10 and bought them of course! I am just wondering what is the name of the model and what year they are from as I've looked around on the net and I'm pretty sure they are not from this year.

For those of you who answered my part one question. Thank you for all your help. You all have made me look at things in a different way! Through my Kids' eyes. But I have more to say. So, I have no privacy at all. He checks my emails, my cell phone, and anything else he can check. Thankfully he hasn't found yahoo answers yet. SOme of you said to go to consoling. The thing is, HE wants us to go to consoling, but when we have in the past, it works for a few weeks, then it is back to the same crap again. I try my hardest to make it work, but I can only put so much in till I just snap. I am truley afraid to leave him. I think about it and it makes me feel sick. But I think about him, and THAT makes me feel sick. I wish it was easy to just leave. And people think I am stupid for staying, but they don't know what I am going through. I heard Nike requires stores to sell 100k per year of shoes. Other companies have not indicated such strict requirements. I live in a market that probably couldn't support selling 100k of just Nike alone, and still carry other brands. I just bought home this awesome pair of high heeled sneakers, the problem is that there're some dirt marks on the white and smooth rubbery part. i had to buy it because it was the last pair... i tried robbing it with water and windex glass cleaner but it didnt come off. does anyone know how to make the dirt marks go away by using stuff i can found in my home? i'm kinda broke from the shoes i really dont want to spend money on sprays.

Pointe shoe fitting?
okay well, i just got my pointe shoes today, and i put in the toe spacers and the wool . i was in bare feet and i noticed the bottom part of my toes are like red and same with the sides of my foot, normal or not? i just started.

yes, its totally normal so dont worry. its because, as you most probably have noticed, pointe shoes are very tight. it might also be because your foot is rubbing against the shoe as you dance and so it gets irritaded, thus gets red. oh, and for some people, when they work very hard in dance they get red all over, so i think thats probably your case since your working pretty hard when your standing on the tips of your toes. :D also, go to a shoe store to get yourself fitted by the salesperson, they will get you the shoes to fit you best. BUT sometimes they give you whatever so i suggest asking your ballet teacher to go in the store with you and have her choose the right shoes for you. I mean, my teacher does that to all her students, but the salespeople say theyve "never seen another ballet teacher who actually brings their students to get their pointe shoes" so i dont know if she will, but its definitelly worth a shot.

Reply:ok...well its normal for the sides to be red cuz thats where your weight is supposed to be, but you shouldnt have any weight on your toes, so that shouldnt really be red. maybe you need a more tapered box, especially since you have tapered toes. my toes are tapered too, and i love grishko 2007s. i dont know how theyll fit you though, cuz my foot isnt narrow towards the ankle. the only shoes i can really think of where you can have them wide in the front and narrow in the back are Gaynors. i know that a lot of people say not to get them and that theyre bad for your feet, but it really depends on your feet. maybe try them on in a store. otherwise you might want to try Russian Pointe. they let you kinda custon make your pointe shoes. they have a bunch or boxes and shanks and stuff that you can put together in your own way

Pointe shoe fitting?
yes, its totally normal so dont worry. its because, as you most probably have noticed, pointe shoes are very tight. it might also be because your foot is rubbing against the shoe as you dance and so it gets irritaded, thus gets red. oh, and for some people, when they work very hard in dance they get red all over, so i think thats probably your case since your working pretty hard when your standing on the tips of your toes. :D also, go to a shoe store to get yourself fitted by the salesperson, they will get you the shoes to fit you best. BUT sometimes they give you whatever so i suggest asking your ballet teacher to go in the store with you and have her choose the right shoes for you. I mean, my teacher does that to all her students, but the salespeople say theyve "never seen another ballet teacher who actually brings their students to get their pointe shoes" so i dont know if she will, but its definitelly worth a shot.

Reply:ok...well its normal for the sides to be red cuz thats where your weight is supposed to be, but you shouldnt have any weight on your toes, so that shouldnt really be red. maybe you need a more tapered box, especially since you have tapered toes. my toes are tapered too, and i love grishko 2007s. i dont know how theyll fit you though, cuz my foot isnt narrow towards the ankle. the only shoes i can really think of where you can have them wide in the front and narrow in the back are Gaynors. i know that a lot of people say not to get them and that theyre bad for your feet, but it really depends on your feet. maybe try them on in a store. otherwise you might want to try Russian Pointe. they let you kinda custon make your pointe shoes. they have a bunch or boxes and shanks and stuff that you can put together in your own way

I have a career, well, had one. My company downsized and I am looking for full time employment, but in the meantime, have decided to take a part time job at Bath and Body Works. I am looking for a pair of really comfortable shoes that are also really cute, preferably in black and not too expensive. Where should I look? What styles or brands may work best? OK, I vented before about the matching shoes...which I think is dumb!! My friend wants us to get matching shoes for a dress that you can't even see the shoes in. I think I am going to tell her these are the shoes I want her to buy for my wedding!!!

They don't realize that she's asking you to buy all this crap, but doesn't even have a reception or ceremony space booked yet. They don't realize that she's going off to Vegas to get married on 7/7/07, and then wanting the big "church" wedding in January--complete with reception--but that isn't even booked yet. I'll bet we could start a Yahoo Answers pool as to the chances of the January "wedding" even coming off, or her just bagging it all--but not until you and her other bridesmaids have bought the non-refundable dresses, shoes, etc., etc., etc.
Personally, I think you should have her get these shoes for your wedding...I think it's rich--poetic justice, so to speak. Of course, we all know she can't afford these shoes (which are the BOMB!), so I'm curious to see what happens next. Tune in tomorrow, right? LOL

If you can, miraculously, find a color that's right on with your dress, GO FOR IT! But don't force it with a color that kind-of, sort-of matches. It'll clash. Definitely try silver or something unpronounced. Try taking your dress (or a polaroid of the dress) to the shoe store and put it right above the shoes. This'll help you get an idea of what works. I'm sure there are plenty of cool combos you wouldn't even imagine until you see how awesome they look together! Good luck!

i bought this pair of coach shoes and they are wooden, and every time i put them on when i start to walk they start slipping around off my feet, and i dont know how to get them to stop. they are the cutest shoes and i really want to wear them b/c i am going out tonight but i cant because they are slippery, like not the bottom of them but the part where my feet are they keep like slipping off so does anybody know what to do? lol i know this is silly but i cant think of anythign to do and i really want to wear them.

How can I make a shoe sole?
I want to make a pair of shoes. I'm not sure how I can make the sole (the bottom part). I don't know what to make it out of. I want it to last.
How can I make a shoe sole?
You can't "make" a sole from scratch as it requires rubber, plastic, vulcanization, but there are several sources for premade soling available to the hobbyist as sheets and units. Many hobby shoemakers start by using the soles from other shoes, especially shoes that have sole and heel in one unit. Find a cheap pair of dime store shoes that fit and remove the crappy uppers from the soles. The soles that are in one piece are called "unit soles" and are a good place to begin. Make a new upper, then cement the new upper to the sole. Don't use crazy glue or super glue, while it works for repair in doesn't work for cementing uppers and soles. Good quality shoe cement is very hard to find as the fumes are extremely toxic without proper ventilation, so you might want to go to a shoe repair shop to have the uppers cemented to the soles. You could also at that point ask the shoe repair person if they have replacement soles that you can buy, again make the uppers and have the shoe person cement them on the sole.
Ther's also a method called "out stitching" or "cordwaining" Where the upper is stitched to the sole on the outside of the upper. This method is used to make cowboy boots, work boots, mukluks, moccasins and casual boots. Sometimes it's also called a welted sole, especially on work boots. I know a very clever artist who makes his soles from old tires. He makes the uppers and then stitches them to a midsole and then cements that to a treaded outsole. Most of these are flat, but he sometimes uses blocks of wood for heels and buys heel lifts, the black thing on the bottom of heels from a shoe shop. They aren't elegant, but they have a unique rugged look and he has little trouble finding discarded tires. For outdoor moccasins the outsole has a small channel carved in it, the upper is then stitched to the sole with the thread in the channel. This keeps the thread from being worn out by sidewalks and streets. Outstitched shoes have many design possibilities.

Shoe problems... keep slipping off my feet... but there the right size, what to do?
i bought this pair of coach shoes and they are wooden, and every time i put them on when i start to walk they start slipping around off my feet, and i dont know how to get them to stop. they are the cutest shoes and i really want to wear them b/c i am going out tonight but i cant because they are slippery, like not the bottom of them but the part where my feet are they keep like slipping off so does anybody know what to do? lol i know this is silly but i cant think of anythign to do and i really want to wear them.

You use the pin to stab the elastic through the sating (dont worry it doesnt leave marks or anything )
and then you push it up and stab it again and push it up eventually it well come out the end

All of my shoes need new heel taps . I am tired of taking them to get repaired because a week later the tap falls off or wears off and I'm in the same situation again. I found a site that sells the part , but I don't know which one I need.

Will airport security confiscate my sketcher shoe-sandals?
I'm leaving the country for a few weeks and I just got these comfortable shoes from Sketchers. The airport says that any "gel-filled" shoes will be confiscated and my shoes are really squishy (feels kind of like gel but I'm not really sure what it is, most of it's leather but I dont know what the squishy part is). Do you think they will confiscate my shoes??? They are the only pair I am bringing with me :(

This may be replaced with liquid explosives, I am assuming. so, if your shoes don't have an obvious jell compartment where they are visible I doubt they will take them. Have you looked on the air travel website to see the exact rules? You can call your local airport and ask them exactly what is going on, they will be happy to explain it. We traveled last year when they weren't allowing tooth paste...it wasn't that bad, really. As long as you call ahead or e-mail and check out the rules. When they had to search someone, which they did me a couple of times. my bags, they took me aside. It wasn't bad. I didn't hold up any lines. Maybe going abroad is different, so check to prevent any problems at the departure time. It would make the trip a loot easier. Have a good time, be safe.

US Shoe Sizes?
I was looking at my shoes earlier - (I'm a Male) - and in the part for the U.S. equivalent size - one says 7.5W and the other one is an 8M.
Anyone know what the "W" and "M" mean?

"M" is for medium, like average.
And unfortunately shoe size converters can never be completely accurate as all brands fit a little different.
I say I wear an 8.5 or 9 and occassionaly I've had to go higher.
Ask the seller and try them on if you can...

I need to off load 500.000$ worth of retail items, i.e auto, parts,locks, misc items?
i just receaved three semi loads of misc items from fishing poles to auto parts, new and used from 50 cases of oil to large electrical genarators i need to to sell quickly or start paying large storage fees. i was thinking of starting a retail outlet store but i have large items such as motor homes drill presses etc, and small items like brand new leather coats, tennis shoes, 500 boxes of spark plug wires. any networking ideas, i think e-bay will be to slow? ideas?

I'm an avg. man with freakishly small feet-- 6.5. Can human growth hormone or surgery increase my shoe size?
I'm in my mid-30s. I'm just under 5'10", about avg. for an American male. I'm of Italian, Irish and Russian descent. I do have a smallish frame, but not freakishly so. My hands, face, and other body parts are in good proportions. But my feet are only size 6.5. They look unusually small. Women comment on it all the time. And I have a hard time finding shoes or even socks that fit properly. Can I do anything to get bigger feet? Woudl human growth hormone injections help? Is there a cosmetic surgery than can be done? Is there some other type of therapy I can do, like some sort of stretching exercises? I know this is something of a stupid question, but I'm tired of being self-conscious about it. Thank you.

Wow, NYguy, I'm the total opposite of you. I'm 6 feet tall...
... with size 15 and 1/2 feet.
And I'm also on the slim side with a normal frame. My hands are normal big, but my feet are huge and my toes are very long. It's ironic the other day I wrote something about how women focus too much on my shoe size to dig into 'other' things, I'm also tired of the comments sometimes.
I'm glad you wrote this because it proves many women do focus on silly things like that. I mean I am proud of my foot size but that's it. But I doubt you would want to swap feet with me. I can't find shoes big enough for them.
Yeah, unfortunately there is no real way of making your feet bigger, same as there isn't a way to make mine smaller to fit into shoes...

Reply:Ha!!!! I say don't worry about it. But the truth of the matter is... at 6' 1", I have small feet (9 1/2 - 10 depending on the shoe). I used to get comments about it all the time, and I would buy longer shoes and stuff the toes so they'd fit. But by the time I hit 30, I quit worrying about it, as I found that if my pants, slacks, and trousers didn't hang too low on the foot, they didn't seem so small. Now when some gal asks, I just say that what my feet are missing is made up for elsewhere more important.

Reply:dont worry, your feet, ears and nose continue to grow throughout your lifetime. You could try wearing shoes that are 2 sizes too big and puting in a shoe insert in them to cover the rest of the area. A shoes specialists who makes shoes for diabetics should be able to make a shoe insert for about 70.00. That is kinda weird, but everything has something wrong with them. Some have bipolar, some women have harry arms, some have chronic bad breath, some are extremely obsese....just be thankful if thats all you have.

Next time a woman comments try something like..."I may be small there but I make up for in other...!" and wink. Maybe pack around some XL condoms for good measure. Ha ha(just joking) I am sorry you are self conscious about that. It sucks being self conscious about body parts etc. Try talking to a a cosmetic surgeon or podiatrist. I wouldn't recommend the hormone injections as they will affect other body parts as well.

Wow, NYguy, I'm the total opposite of you. I'm 6 feet tall...

And I'm also on the slim side with a normal frame. My hands are normal big, but my feet are huge and my toes are very long. It's ironic the other day I wrote something about how women focus too much on my shoe size to dig into 'other' things, I'm also tired of the comments sometimes.
I'm glad you wrote this because it proves many women do focus on silly things like that. I mean I am proud of my foot size but that's it. But I doubt you would want to swap feet with me. I can't find shoes big enough for them.
Yeah, unfortunately there is no real way of making your feet bigger, same as there isn't a way to make mine smaller to fit into shoes...
