Are women's body parts and accessories sex objects in themselves?

Feminist "theorists" are big on "objectification", by which they mean treating women as "sex objects" rather than as people. However, looking into this theory deeper, it would appear that it is not the woman HERSELF who it being regarded as the object - it is her body parts and accessories.

Like neat busters, trim posterior, red lips, shiny lips, eye shadow, eye liner, narrow waist, painted finger nails and toe nails, the curve of the foot attendant on wearing stilleto-heeled shoes.

Isn't "objectivization" therefore a form of fetishism?

Are women's body parts and accessories sex objects in themselves?
Yes it is.

The focus is on body parts to the exclusion of the woman as a whole person with human feelings and needs.

It doesn't matter which part you point to - that is just a matter of cultural conditioning. Like, in some cultures breasts are nothing special. In some times in history, the ankles and feet have been the main focus of sexual desire. (For example, when syphilis was prevalent the feet became a very popular and sexualized alternative to penetrative sex).

The "objectification" can be understood if one also considers that inanimate objects like shoes, handbags, clothing can also be the beloved sexual stimulus for some men.

Whatever the object of sexual excitement may be; it's only a problem when sexual acts alone are so much the focus that the woman as a whole becomes irrelevant and therefore the ability to form a genuinely intimate relationship with a woman is impaired.

Edit: Great post below mine - thanks for that. Very effective imagery in that.
Reply:Err? So, if you can successfully reduce the entire female gender to just their sexuality, even in the abstract, then it's not problematic? Report It

Reply:Uh. The point is not that you are fetishizing body parts, it is that you are reducing a human being to an object that may be used for sex. As an analogy, imagine if people decided that your mouth was a convenient bottle opener. No one asked you about it, they just came up every once in a while and stuck a bottle in your mouth and popped it open. No one would pay attention to you unless they had a bottle that needed opening. What would you think of this? You would say, "Hey, I'm not a ******* bottle opener."

Similarly for sex and objectification of women.
Reply:Umm...that's just it. Reducing a PERSON to a series of "body parts" and disregarding that there is a whole person, with thoughts and feelings, IS objectification.

It's looking at a woman as if they are NOTHING MORE than T 'n A.

"Objectification" CAN be a form of fetishism. Breasts are fetishized in Western Culture. But that doesn't mean that objectification itself is nothing more than a fetish. Slaves are objectified.

The "bottle opener" metaphor explains it exactly.
Reply:lol. Do you actually think that woman was created the way she is for the single purpose of your entertainment? wow! That is too much even for you. Women dress up and use makeup , wear cute accessories and sexy shoes to make themselves feel sensual. The effect we have on you is only a side effect, dear...
